Safeway

Project build as part of Hack The North 2019 at the University of Waterloo.

Use Cases

Safeway is an Android application aimed towards increasing safety for people while they are out and about. Leveraging the Toronto Police datesets on criminal reports over the past four years, we aim to provide the following features to users:

Map out all the criminal data for users to easily understand and analyze
Navigation from Point A to Point B by mapping out the safest route based on crime data
Providing SOS functionality for altering authorities
Location awareness notifications to warn users if they travel to areas with high crime rates

I worked on gathering and processing the datasets, from the Toronto Open Police Data. Also created an API to retrieve the clean data.
