The Inspiration for this project came from browsing the Spotify Developer Showcase and seeing what amazing work people have done with the API and it's data. We were also inspired by the idea of being able to view/explore music in a new & different way.

What it does

This fun project not only plays music, but also helps others find new music and learn about the countries in the world. With all 195 countries, according the UN, being displayed on the globe, it assigns a song to the country and when the country is selected, it updates the audio tag. When the user hits play they are played the random song assigned to that country.

How we built it

Using a combination of D3.js, HTML5, and other javascript plugins or libraries.

Challenges we ran into

Utilizing specific songs with Spotify's API. Because of this, we switched to a simpler method of loading .mp3 files.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The interactions between the visual & the music & the user.

What we learned

We learned how to interact with sound in a new way.

What's next for Russian Roulette

More randomization from Spotify or other music services.
