Inspiration

Chinese senior citizens square dancing normally happens in community level. Senior citizens gather around when they are free, dancing the same song together following the leading dancer. Not just for fun, it also serves as a way of workout, like zumba. It unites the community and provides a social networking platform that attracts many senior citizens.

Pokemon Go game community Telegram group emerges alongside COVID-19 since Pokemon Go changed several parts of the game. It enables gamers travel further virtually which means they can connect with more gamers in different locations. In light of this, the gamers built an online system voluntarily to pair each other into teams within the community after a crowdfunding among the gamers.

What it does

This sporting E-community brings senior citizens together. It surpasses the barrier of distance and time, during or post COVID-19. It encourages senior citizens to participate in sports and physical activities by building the sporting platform that share and advertise sports designed for the elderly. It also creates a social platform facilitating networking among senior citizens and in turn promoting peer-encouraging when it comes to sports practising. Therefore, Senior citizens can either following the online tutorials at home where the pandemic is severe. Or they can join the sports activities organised through the platform within their community online or offline. It promotes tailored sports for seniors which have different scales based on the intensity ideally. It also promotes the presentation of senior citizen sports which help change the stereotype of ‘sports are only for the young’.

Hard to define the challenge since it’s really broad. Hard to change sports since it’s already a well-established institution

We draw inspirations from different cultures and domains. And they are all proved to be useful and helpful when it comes to achieving the goals by building a strong inclusive community.
