Won Best Mobile Hack

What it does

Voting-based Spotify queue creator. It will constantly update the queue when new votes or songs are added and rank the songs by the number of votes. Users will connect to a server that the DJ will host and text him or her a command + song + artist name.

How we built it

We used various technologies like Twilio for IP Messaging, Node.js and PHP for server-client communication, and Spotify to login and play music. By using a text parser, the app will shift the Spotify queue accordingly and dynamically show the various songs in the queue with the number of votes they have.

What's next for Party DJ

Refine implementation of the queue and update the GUI to look nicer.

I worked on the text parser and a little of the IP Messaging with Twilio. I also designed the GUI for the app using Adobe Illustrator.

I worked on the front-end of the iOS application with Swift (integrating the Twilio and Spotify SDK's for front-end chatting functionality), and connected the iOS front-end app to the Node.js IPMessaging server application over HTTP requests.
