Synopsis

Simply put, our game is about steering a disease from point A to point B. However, the unnamed disease must travel on humans across a large tile map, and bounce between people before they die and cannot transmit. You start by controlling a nameless, infected avatar, who chooses a direction to walk along a grid every turn. After 5 turns, the carrier will die, halting the spread of the disease. There are two ways to transmit the disease among humans: one can move towards another human on the last turn, or "sneeze", which allows transmission of anyone within 2 squares in front of the player. To add complexity to the environment, hazards like water and walls prevent movement. The core of the gameplay are the different people the virus infects along the way. Each person has different characteristics that help or hinder movement in the map. For example, the goose can cross water, the spitter has a further sneeze range, and the skateboarder … Well you are just going to have to play for yourself.

Controls

Move - all 4 directions (use arrow keys) Sneeze - only once, transmits two squares forward *** "Sneeze" is not visible on the UI display (press space) "s" to skip level "r" to reset level

Hazards

Walls: prevents movement Water: only geese can travel through this one

Character Types:

Germaphobe: wears mask, prevents virus from transmitting from ONE side Old: fewer amount of moves before dies Spitter: longer sneezing distance (4 tiles) Allergy: sneezes every round Doctor: has to avoid, dies instantly upon contact Procrastinator: moves every other round, 2 tiles at once Skateboarder: slides to next wall

State of Project

Unfortunately, we weren't able to get all of our art assets in the game, none of our sounds (including an original musical composition) and a complete UI. However, we intend on completing this project after the jam. Our main focus was making tricky puzzles that utilized different types of characters. We had many different character ideas, but narrowed it down to our favorites.
