Inspiration
The COVID-19 pandemic has made online meetings a new norm of communication for many businesses, classes and even families. With everything being online during these times, one can easily lose track of the time when they are staying at home at all times. This is when Slackoff comes into play, ensuring that it never happens again.
What it does
Slackoff supports two meeting websites, Google meets and Microsoft Teams. It allows the user to automatically join any given link to the meeting at a specified time. Slack off uses selenium to navigate through a newly created browser and navigates through the given link while filling in the information needed for logins. Not only that, but it also turns off the user's mic and camera automatically before joining any meetings. Lastly, it supports the feature to leave the meeting when the number of people inside the meeting is less than the given number.
How we built it
We mainly used python and selenium to code the majority of Slackoff. We also used other libraries like schedule and keyboard for smaller features.
Challenges we ran into
The meeting links contain the symbol '%' in them so we could not take it as a string.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
We are very proud of Slackoff's efficiency and its reliability to carry out the requests.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the functionality of selenium and its applications; ways to interact with websites and navigate through them.
What's next for Slackoff
Our next goal is to create a GUI for an easier user experience.
