Inspiration

We have all at one point ate a meal alone when we would have rather enjoyed the company of someone else. Meal Buddies provides that company when we need it.

What it does

Meal Buddies links you to other people who also want to eat with someone based on your interests, the time you're eating and the specific dining court. It allows users to select a dining court right before heading to a dining and match in close to real time.

How we built it

We built it using Dart and the Firebase database.

Challenges we ran into

We had many challenges, including beginning and integrating the firebase database with the front-end. For example, we had several issues integrating authentication into our app. Additionally, Dart was a language that only one of us had used before and therefore there was a steep initial learning curve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are the most proud of the smooth integration between the front-end and the back-end of the project. Additionally, we are proud that we shipped out a fully functional app on both ios and android that solves a real world platform in less than 24 hours!

What we learned

We all learned Dart and Firebase and using Github in a team setting. These Dart, Firebase and GitHub skills will be invaluable in future app development

What's next for Meal Buddies

Meal Buddies will become an app that people around campus may use. We will work on trying to improve the match algorithm
