I've been seeing all the fun lightning apps coming out, mainly games and I really enjoy both bitcoin/lightning and making games so I decided to do it also.
What it does
It's a website where I built all of the account/balance management and now it serves as a base for adding lightning apps to it. I've been focusing on games as it's always been my passion, but I also added a blog with tipping enabled and a couple of other features.
How I built it
The website is built using Angular 7 and the API server is a Python app.
Challenges I ran into
Learning how to interact with a lightning node. There's also plenty of ways to leave vulnerabilities on your website that could lead to fund loss, so it's been interesting to try to come up with them and fix them.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
It's an early product and I wouldn't say there's anything amazing yet but I'm proud that it works so seamlessly and will serve as a great platform to continue building stuff.
What I learned
I've learned a lot about managing both a bitcoin and a lightning node. Also how to interact with LND through my API.
What's next for Lightning City
I'm certainly going to continue to build games on it. I'd like to take them to the next level and not just be some simple gambling games. I want to build multiplayer games with lightning as their internal currency.
