Inspiration
The concept started as a parody of cliché shampoo ads — glossy, empty, and obsessed with vanity. But while developing it, I realized the story could explore something deeper: how fragile our self-image really is. “Life Before Your Eyes” evolved into a poetic short about regret, loss, and the absurd things people chase to feel whole.
What I Learned
This project taught me how to balance irony and emotion in storytelling. I learned that humor and sadness can coexist in the same frame — and when they do, the audience feels something real. On the technical side, I gained experience blending AI-generated visuals with cinematic pacing and practical sound design to build a believable emotional arc.
How It Was Built
Every shot was composed using AI video generation tools like Kling AI and refined through Premiere Pro for pacing, transitions, and mood control. I used AI voices and layered human foley to bring subtle realism into the world — like strands of hair falling or faint echoes in the funeral scene. Color grading was crucial: cold desaturation for despair, warm vignettes for redemption.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was making AI-generated characters feel alive and emotionally grounded. I spent days testing lighting, expressions, and sound layers until every moment felt human. Another hurdle was tone — keeping it sad without melodrama, ironic without mockery.
