We are all latinos from predominantly hispanic/latino communities, we felt like by doing this challenge we could help our fellow latinos find a safe space where they could feel at home and spread awareness to others about who they are and where they come from.

What it does

The Latinx Cultural Hacienda is a place for research and understanding of our culture for non-latinos

How I built it

I used ideas from where I come from and incorporated the designs and the way the latino culture has artisania, kioskos, haciendas, clay like structure for their buildings. We used autocad for the layout and then hand drew the details we wanted.

Challenges I ran into

Trying to use the autocad was a challenge, we redesigned our layout several times over night until we finally came up with a final idea that we felt would adequately represent the latino culture.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I was able to become more familiar with autocad and learned a lot about how the latino graduate student organization makes efforts to make other latinos feel welcome on campus.

What I learned

We learned about the student demographic at college station.

What's next for Latinx Cultural Hacienda

Advocating and petitioning for the use of the money that the institution will receive for being a HSI.
