Inspiration

Recently there was an incident: Bihar flood, where people were completely blacked out and were not able to communicate. When we researched a bit more, we came to know more about communicate gaps in remote, forest and under developed areas where cell phone communication is limited and expensive.

What it does

So, we wanted to develop a small prototype that works on Radio signals and data packets can be received on a normal smart phone without any SIM or internet connection.

How I built it

We built the prototype using a potentiometer, capacitors and oscillators. The sender transmits a signal (which can be encrypted) to the oscillator which in turns broadcast the message on a particular frequency. We can also adjust the frequency via potentiometer. And the receiver can capture data using any Radio.

Challenges I ran into

The main challenge was to build the a high fidelity receiver and encrypt the whole communication.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We successful transmitted audio converted from text and captured the signals through the oscillator and Radio app.

What's next for LAi

On a larger scale, we can plan a complete network of nodes in remote and forest areas without causing any harm to environment.
