ReflectoBot – Helping Kids Reflect, Express, and Grow with AI

🧠 What It Is

ReflectoBot is an AI-powered emotional wellness web app for kids (ages 7–13). It helps children build emotional intelligence through guided mood check-ins, reflective chats, creative drawing, and voice-powered prompts.

I built ReflectoBot entirely on my own using Bolt.new, GPT-4o, and ElevenLabs, combining storytelling, design, and technology to create a safe space for kids to explore their feelings creatively and confidently.

🌟 Why It Matters

Kids today face a rising tide of anxiety, digital overload, and emotional disconnection. ReflectoBot meets them where they are, on screens, but brings them inward instead of pulling them away. I created this tool to turn tech into a source of empathy, creativity, and inner calm.

These values guide every feature I designed, from voice interactions and mood tracking to the drawing canvas and reflective prompts.

🔁 A Labor of Iteration

ReflectoBot took every bit of the 30-day hackathon, minus one intense day for surgery and another for recovery. Then straight back to it. I built, tested, and refined constantly, staying up late, waking up early, and pushing past exhaustion because I believed in what I was creating.

From UX flows to voice integration, every screen and interaction was carefully thought through, often rebuilt multiple times. This wasn’t just about finishing, it was about doing it right, for the kids who will use it.

❤️ The Inspiration

ReflectoBot was created during a deeply personal time, as I prepared for and recovered from cancer surgery. Despite the uncertainty, I poured my energy into building something that could help kids feel seen, supported, and emotionally strong, because that mission matters as much to me as my own healing.

As a creative entrepreneur, motion graphics animator, and author of the Papertoy Monsters and Papertoy Glowbots books, I’ve spent my career bringing ideas to life and inspiring imagination. While I haven’t always worked directly in the children’s space, projects like CreatableMe and now ReflectoBot are deeply personal efforts to entertain, uplift, and empower the next generation through creativity and emotional connection.

ReflectoBot is more than a project, it’s a mission. I created it to give kids a tool I wish I had growing up. One that doesn’t just entertain them, but helps them grow emotionally, think more creatively, and reflect on what really matters.

Hi, I’m Brian — a motion designer, creative director, and founder of CreatableMe. I’m building ReflectoBot, an interactive AI app that helps kids reflect on their emotions, build emotional awareness, and express themselves through creative tools like chat, drawing, and mood check-ins. It’s playful, safe, and designed with emotional well-being at the core.
