HAJIMARInoHANA_The fast bloom

Inspiration

I created this work by depicting something people are beginning to forget as a symbolic beast. Culture and history feel increasingly blurred and indistinct in modern society. Through this piece, I wanted to simplify and visualize that idea in a way people could easily understand.

What it does

This piece tells the story of a mythical beast that once lived in harmony with people, sharing mutual understanding. As time passed, humans gradually lost interest and abandoned their faith in it. Whether out of sorrow or resentment, the beast reappears in the human world—crossing paths with a young girl and beginning a new tale between the two.

How we built it

tool: Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, We generated the character and background separately and composited them together, incorporating a workflow similar to actual anime production. It was a highly experimental approach, using techniques that are still rarely seen elsewhere, which made the process both challenging and exciting.

Challenges we ran into

There were many moments when the animations didn’t move the way I imagined. Because the background and character had to be generated as separate videos, each scene required at least two separate generations, which made the process very time-consuming and difficult to manage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that I was able to complete this project using such an unconventional approach. If this workflow can be refined and made smoother, I believe it has the potential to be applied in real animation production environments as well.

What we learned

I hope to make this production method a new standard in my own workflow moving forward. I also believe that by approaching AI with respect for human creators, even those who are skeptical of AI can come to acknowledge its value, allowing both sides to coexist.

What's next for HAJIMARInoHANA_The fast bloom

I plan to create a sequel to this piece. Ultimately, my goal is to develop it into a fully realized animated work and release it as a complete project.
