Inspiration
Our team was trying to find a problem to solve, and with that, we realized that having appropriate vocabulary for certain situations can be important. This is especially true given job interviews, and other formal presentations. One demographic we would like to help improve upon this is kids, who through our game, will both be challenged, have fun, and expand their vocabulary along the way.
What it does
This game provides users with the chance to build their vocabulary skills while having fun by comparing words with their synonyms via our Goose themed web front-end. Scores are generated by the relevance and uniqueness of words entered. Users are given 30 seconds from pressing a 'Go' Button to guess as many relevant synonyms as possible.
How we built it
We built an API, back-end database, and front-end UI via web to make our game work.
Challenges we ran into
Narrowing down on an idea that we wanted to develop, putting together the final pieces of our project (connecting our front-end, back-end, and designs all together)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a working front end that draws on a database of words via our API. Having a functioning product to present to the Hackathon judges.
What we learned
Different areas of development and thinking for hackers who had different experiences.
What's next for ABGeese
Adding and modifying existing words to create a more comprehensive library of words, and their synonyms. Additionally, adding words of languages other than English, multiplayer functionality.
