Inspiration

I’ve come to realize that artificial intelligence exists in a grey zone where reality and the virtual quietly converge — much like the dreams that surface from our subconscious. Those hazy, indescribable scenes and figures that feel strangely familiar. In dreams, we often “recognize” someone we’ve never met in real life; the mind weaves an intimate connection for us, yet there’s always a subtle sense of strangeness beneath it. The way AI connects first frames to last frames feels much the same — like a dream suddenly shifting into a new scene.

This state between the real and the unreal became the starting point for my latest creation.

As children, many of us treasured small but precious objects: birthday gifts from our parents, crystals or stones we secretly collected. We stored them in metal tins or deep in drawers, and even as adults, they resurface unexpectedly in memory — this is why jewelry is so deeply intertwined with emotion.

Building on that resonance, I set the story in a future world: a girl connects her mind to a neural network, searching for the blurred fragments of her childhood. It becomes a nostalgic yet warm “treasure hunt” across a post-apocalyptic landscape — a journey to find balance between what is broken and what is tender.

Through AI, I hope to awaken the glimmers of light that time has covered, yet never extinguished, within us.

How I built it

I’m a contemporary jewelry designer as well as a creative content producer for brand. I first used GPT to design the script for the short film, then created the jewelry designs in Midjourney. After that, I used Midjourney’s Omni-reference to maintain character consistency. I generated image-to-video motion with Dreamnia and completed the final short film through video editing software.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges I faced was maintaining consistent characters and visual details throughout the short film. Ensuring continuity across different AI tools — from design to animation — required multiple iterations, fine-tuning, and careful prompt control to keep the protagonist’s appearance and the jewelry details cohesive.

Accomplishments that i'm proud of

As a designer transitioning into AI-driven filmmaking, I’m proud that I was able to independently create a short film that would traditionally require an entire production team. Leveraging AI tools allowed me to bridge design, storytelling, animation, and post-production on my own — turning what was once a multi-role workflow into a single creative process.

What I learned

Working on this project taught me the importance of storyboard design in short-form storytelling. Scene continuity, transitions, and camera angles all played a crucial role in shaping the emotional flow of the film. Managing these elements helped me understand how thoughtful shot planning can elevate narrative clarity and visual impact, especially when blending AI-generated visuals across multiple tools.

What's next for Gemini Ring

I love crafting stories for music — designing how a narrative unfolds, exploring different modes of visual expression, and shaping how sound transforms into imagery. This intersection of storytelling, music, and visual design is something I want to pursue more deeply in the future.
