We designed this website to help charities have an easier time communicating with foodbanks. Helping people in need is something important for us and we believe that by designing this website we are helping as best as we can.

What it does

This website displays a list of foodbank from a database refresh in real time. It displays the phone numbers, geographical location, adress and name of every foodbank in the database. As for the admins, we have created an admin page to add, modify and delete items in the inventory as well as their quantities.

How we built it

We built this website using SQL, html, css, JSON and python. We used python to take the info from a SQL database updated in real time. That data base is leakage protected. While displaying we used a google api for fetching the latitude and longitude from the address. We could not manage to finish our editor or out inventory display. The only part we have working cleanly is the food bank information page.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into multiple challenges. The first one being that this morning Google denied our api for latitude and longitude; because of that we had to rewrite and made sur it was approve by Google. We also began to learn JavaScript to fetch the information off a JSON file, but we found a way that didn't require us to learn a whole new coding language in 24 hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud that we got something to showcase after the 24 hours. One of us had to learn html and we are really happy of his results. We also managed to use an api for latitude and longitude, which was not something we could have done before. Thanks to MariHacks, we are smarter now than yesterday.
