Inspiration

Mental Health is the emotional well-being of an individual, however, people in the LGBTQ community experience mental health issues at higher rates. A recent study found that 61% have depression 45% have PTSD 36% have an anxiety disorder. 40 percent of transgender individuals have attempted suicide in their lifetime.

What it does

Keeping the importance of mental health in mind we decided to make a platform inclusive of everyone where one can check their mental health using the form on our website, contact therapists, Read jokes, and play games to lift their mood, in addition, we have also integrated a Chatbot!

How we built it

🌈We designed the UI of our Website on Figma and prototyped it to see the user flow.

🌈We made our own Machine Learning model using Data Science Concepts to determine if one's Mental Health is poor or not

🌈We made a Chatbot for individuals to ask questions about mental health

🌈We then wrote the Frontend using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap

🌈We wrote the Backend using NodeJS, ExpressJS, and EJS. We integrated the ML model and chatbot as well.

🌈We included a Jokes API, as well as Games and therapists' info.

🌈We deployed our website on Heroku.

Challenges we ran into

Making a website according to our own UI/UX, integrating backend with frontend, working with APIs & integrating our regression model, as well as chatbot, was a challenging task, especially against the constraints of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To be able to complete our project & make a fully-functional website to help others is something we feel proud of. Data pre-processing done for our regression model was a bit tricky but we were able to do it in the given time period.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate backend with frontend in Web Development, work with APIs & integrate ML model into our website & host the website. We enjoyed learning how to work with new APIs such as Dialogflow. Time management & teamwork are some of the valuable things that we improved upon.

What's next for Filia

🌈Online Therapy Sessions: We hope to have online sessions by professionals, easily accessible to everyone.

🌈Social Media Platform: We hope to further build our website into a platform where individuals of similar interests can connect and make friends

🌈Build an App: We hope to build our software into an app for individuals to access through their mobile phones as well.
