Inspiration
Creating a solution for people who don't have access to technology who need it for things like finding a job or completing their education.
What it does
Displays a list of items that are available to be borrowed by those in need. Maps all devices based on the location in their item record. Allows for sorting based on proximity to the user, category, SKU, etc. and allows users to request these items and provide a return date for when they will bring them back by.
How I built it
We used React on the front end with Google Maps API and we used S3 for hosting the website. For the backend, we ran two Java Tomcat servers in separate EC2 instances with Dynamo DB to store user credentials and Elasticsearch to store items and perform search queries against them.
Challenges I ran into
We ran out of time to finish hooking up our new APIs to the front-end.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting the whole back end up and running, able to successfully submit HTTP requests to all APIs.
What I learned
We learned a lot about the infrastructure end of all of this, as well as how React works.
What's next for Extremely Okay Lending Service
Completing the connection of the front end to the back end.
