Inspiration

This project started as an experiment: could I create an immersive, seamless walkthrough using only AI-generated environments — doors opening, long tunnel shots, and smooth transitions? While building the moodboard of abandoned bunkers and drainage tunnels, the atmosphere naturally shifted. The spaces felt tense, as if something was hiding there. That’s how the idea of a shadow creature on a forgotten military base appeared.

What it does

Dustwalkers became a short AI-driven horror sequence with: -long POV exploration shots, -seamless corridor transitions, -a consistent shadow monster, -character voices and radio calls, -and a dark found-footage tone. -It’s a small, self-contained chase scene — and a glimpse of a larger underground world.

How I built it

Every tool served a specific purpose: Veo 3 — shots with the operator where the face stays obscured while speaking. Kling — smooth motion, tunnel walkthroughs, and seamless transitions. Gemini NanoBanana + Seedream — designing the monster, locations and keeping its appearance consistent. HeyGen — lip-sync for the operator character. ElevenLabs — all character voices. Freepik — sound effects, quick reference packs, and early concept materials. The workflow grew from simple scene generation into a multi-stage pipeline combining environments, motion, monster passes, and audio.

Challenges I ran into

Keeping the monster’s silhouette and material consistent across tools. Getting doors and tunnel transitions to connect naturally. Managing style drift when mixing many platforms. Making the operator scenes feel real without showing the face.

Accomplishments I’m proud of

A cohesive chase sequence built from multiple AI systems. A stable and recognizable monster design. Sound and voice layers that deepen immersion. A repeatable pipeline for building atmospheric horror scenes.

What I learned

Immersion comes from pacing, sound, and camera logic — not just visuals. Using each AI tool for a focused task leads to better consistency. Strong environments naturally inspire story and tension.

What's next for Dustwalkers

I’ve already started a continuation: a specialist sent to clean the facility from these creatures, returning to the same tunnels. It’s still in progress, but Dustwalkers clearly has room to grow — more characters, more tunnels, and deeper horror. Maybe even more secrets can be found it the facility
