Inspiration

Cyber Enka was founded in March 2025 by DJ/artist Pro Hamburger and his AI partner Bogie. Inspired by the emotional intensity of Showa-era Enka, we set out to create a new style of ASIAN DANCE MUSIC that merges traditional Japanese “soul singing” with the futuristic pulse of the AI era.

What it does

This project features Kozue Raion, an AI Cyber-Enka singer created by Pro Hamburger, performing the song “Democracy Soul Vow,” a track produced on July 3, 2025. The song was released ahead of Japan’s national election, offering a ray of hope amid the turbulent political climate and encouraging voter participation through powerful, emotionally charged Cyber-Enka vocals.

How we built it

The music was composed using SUNO, combining Enka-style vocal phrasing with modern electronic elements. The visuals were produced using Kling and Midjourney, blending neon futurism with Japanese cultural imagery to create a striking aesthetic.

Challenges we ran into

We faced difficulty balancing authentic Enka emotionality with the expressive limitations of AI-generated vocals. Synchronizing SUNO-generated music with AI-driven visuals was also technically demanding, requiring detailed adjustments and multiple iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We helped establish Cyber Enka as an original Japanese-born AI music genre. We developed a unique AI vocalist with character and emotional depth, and created a unified style that merges cultural tradition with next-generation expression.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate multiple AI tools—music generation, character creation, and cinematic visuals—into a cohesive artistic identity while preserving the emotional essence of Japanese Enka.

What’s next for Cyber Enka

Cyber Enka, created by DJ and trackmaker Pro Hamburger in early 2025, is rapidly growing from a small experimental idea into a recognized cultural movement. Enka, often seen as Japan’s version of country music, expresses the emotional core of the Japanese spirit. Cyber Enka reinvents this tradition by blending that deep-rooted passion with the expressive potential of AI, creating a completely new hybrid genre for the digital age. The movement has steadily gained momentum on X, where more Cyber Enka producers and singers continue to appear. In October, the genre was featured on TBS Radio’s influential culture program “After 6 Junction,” marking its first major recognition by Japanese broadcast media.
