Inspiration
The Covid19 pandemic this year has affected the lives of almost everyone on the planet. With thousands of Americans becoming infected each day it can be extremely difficult to determine who may have been infected by the virus. Many people might not even know they need to get tested because they may have no symptoms.
With manual contact tracing being implemented in parts of the country, more people are being identified with the virus but it's unfortunately not enough. This method has many drawbacks, unfortunately, such as not being able to get into contact with people who may have been near the infected, but whose identities are unknown to them.
What it does
Luckily, however, everyone nowadays has a phone on them almost all the time. With Bluetooth technology, nearby phones can detect each other even if they just pass by momentarily. Because of this, people who have been in close contact with the infected can now be notified if they have been in the presence of such people. It also logs the position of the phone at different locations it goes to identify physical locations where infected people go even if they aren't there at the same time.
How I built it
I built the client in react-native and the server in Node.js
Challenges I ran into
Implementing a map view in react native took me a while because I had never done it before
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm glad that I made a full demo of my idea
