Inspiration

Since we all had front-end experience, we wanted to make a simple but relevant website. Given the current state of the world, we decided to make a site that tracked COVID-19 cases by country.

What it does

It tracks the number of COVID-19 cases by country. The website describes what COVID-19 is, the symptoms and how to prevent them, and the treatments.

How we built it

We built it by using React.js, CSS, HTML, and Bootstrap.

Challenges we ran into

It was challenging working separately, especially in a virtual environment. If the competition was in person, then we would have been able to work faster. It was challenging using React, as none of us were familiar with it coming into the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to make a project that gives information on treatments and prevention tips for COVID-19. We are also proud that we were able to leverage unfamiliar technologies for this project.

What we learned

We learned a little about React and how to use it in a project. We also learned about the true extent of COVID-19 through our tracker, and how without a vaccine, it might be difficult to eliminate COVID-19.

What's next for COVID-19 Tracker

We would like to add more external resources which can help navigate the user of the website to gain extra information. We would also look into making the site more responsive (especially for mobile devices) and make a mobile app version.
