We have created “Compete to Learn”, a software that tests students' knowledge on various topics and makes learning more interactive and fun to users.

Inspiration

For this hackathon we are focusing on how we can use technology to provide quality education for populations in need.

Have you ever wanted to learn something but it just doesn't seem to stick? Have you been lacking motivation to commit to learning? Are you too busy to take a full course on the subject?

The truth is that there are many amazing resources and lectures out there for learning the material, but not many for actually applying the material. "Compete to Learn" might be the missing link to keeping the information you are trying to learn in your head. What can we do with this?

What it does

Our platform is committed to making learning more application focused, while still making it fun and timely. For 5 minutes of your day, you can sit down and use our web application to compete against other students across the world in many quizzes for all different skill levels. When you join a quiz session, we match you with an opponent and you will both compete to see who can get the most points! Actually apply your knowledge and have fun while doing it and get more points than your opponent!

"Compete to Learn" is based on the idea that to truly learn something, we need to practice applying it. “Compete to Learn” is an interactive software that allows its users to compete with others on various on various topics such as Science, Math, and Coding.

What's next for Compete to Learn

We intend to partner with Khan Academy, and to create our competitions to apply to their program content. We want to create a fully functioning site to host our platform, as well expand our app to mobile devices for ease of use. Our goal is to make this platform as easy to access as possible for everyone who cannot afford the extra time or money required to access quality learning.
