Brown Love was inspired by the timeless elegance of Black couples, the warm soul of the 70s, and the desire to honor our stories with a cinematic language that feels both nostalgic and futuristic.
What it does
The film celebrates Black Love across eras, blending retro aesthetics with modern visual storytelling to evoke emotion, pride, and connection.
How we built it
The project was crafted shot by shot using AI-generated cinematics, color-graded sequences, and references from 70s photography, soul music visuals.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing authenticity with stylization, maintaining emotional truth with AI-created actors, and achieving consistent visual coherence across scenes were the main difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a cohesive cinematic world, captured the emotional resonance of Black intimacy, and built a visual ode that feels timeless and deeply personal.
What we learned
We learned how to merge AI tools with human storytelling, how to direct emotion without real actors, and how to translate cultural memory into cinematic imagery.
What's next for Brown Love
Expanding it into a longer narrative, creating character-focused mini-stories, and developing a series that explores Black Love across different cultures and decades.
