Textbooks are expensive for students. Textbooks are followed by intellectual piracy for publishers. We fix that by transforming textbooks into NFTs and allow students to freely trade them while guaranteeing royalties to publishers.
What it does
BlockBook allows publishers to transform their textbooks into NFTs and directly sell them to students around the world. On the other hand, when finished with their semester, students can sell their textbooks directly to other students around the world for a price similar to what they have originally paid.
How we built it
We used Figma to build a website prototype and implemented the website using React. We used Solidity to write the smart contract that mints textbook NFTs.
Challenges we ran into
We underestimated the size of this project. We bit more than we could chew. Connecting the frontend to the backend was more difficult than anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our team's first project together. The end result could have been better, but we feel proud of what we've made as a team.
What we learned
Planning and brainstorming before the clock starts are important.
What's next for BlockBook
Figure out how we can connect the frontend to the backend. Improve UI/UX. Finish the migration from Figma prototype to React.
