Inspiration
Due to the lack of maze game in Virtual Reality, our team decided to make a horror theme maze experience in VR. Also, to add onto the spookiness for the upcoming Halloween holiday, many of our models are Halloween related.
What it does
The players are attending the once in the life time Spooy-fest! Can they get to the end of the maze to eat the delicious pumpkins, or are they going to be stuck in the maze with haunting monsters that roam around the maze? However, the monsters are not the only problem, the fog that cover the maze is another challenge for the players.
How we built it
We built the 3D models in Blender, adding texture on top of it and bake the textures. We also implemented our gameplay in Unity to be played in Vive.
Challenges we ran into
We have ran into many challenges when doing 3D models such as putting textures on and baking the texture, and making 3D model isn't our strongest strength. Also, the animations didn't function too well in 3D in Unity. There are still several bugs in our program awaited to be solved.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Most of our team got better at using Blender for 3D modeling, and we also learn to develop in Unity to make experience for Vive.
What we learned
we learned how to bake texture and 3D modeling, and animation in Unity.
What's next for aMaze
We will expand the maze into a full maze and implement different theme that include different mechanics. And we are also exploring weapon system and a tool belt. Also, we are looking into making better AI for our monsters.
