I was inspired to make this short film by the current political climate in the United States, the prolific ICE raids, and the formation of the ICE detention center known as Alligator Alcatraz.
The video clips were generated with Veo 3, Wan 2.2, and Wan 2.5. Topaz Video was used to increase resolution. One of the main issues I encountered was poor upresolution from Veo 3. The quality of the image changed when using Veo 3's internal upresolution, which is very unfortunate. The video clips were rendered at 720p the increased to 8K for an eventual 4K DCP. From 720p to 8K, it's a bit of a stretch.
I had planned to use Veo 3's audio for the character voices, but found them to be inconsistent. I also didn't think the voices fit the characters. I used ElevenLabs to generate the character voices by recording the dialogue myself into the ElevenLabs Voice Changer.
I discovered that the American AI models will not render images, video, or audio of Donald Trump, but AI models based outside the United States did render his likeness and voice.
The other challenge was getting the AI video models to render consistent characters even with image-to-video prompts.
