Inspiration
Sexual Assault is a problem. It is a problem at Penn State main campus, Penn State branch campus, and on college universities across the United States.
What it does
Our application provides a more intuitive notification tool. Text message and email alert are unfriendly and do not drive home importance of the project. Visualizing the data on an interactive map and providing update summary analytics provides a more useful platform.
How I built it
We built the product on a LAMP stack hosted on Amazon AWS. We used the map box API which provides a user update able interactive and mobile friendly map.
Challenges I ran into
Interactive mapping is difficult and data cleaning is time consuming.

The importance of the project. The impact it can have on Penn State and other Universities.

What's next for Alert PSU: Sexual Assault Analytics
The project is open source. We want to explore its potential at Penn State and then at other universities
