AI Action Short

Action movie about a fox who is attacked by hyenas, and a rabbit saves her by warning his lion friend. Everything was created from scratch by a single creator. This is my Chroma project.

Inspiration

I was inspired by The Lion King to create this story.

What it does

A short action film with no dialogue, focused on visual storytelling and sound design. It tells the story of a fox being chased by hyenas. The rabbit, who has great networking skills, calls a family of lions to help the fox. The fox is a friend whom the rabbit had previously helped when she was injured. The adult lion arrives, believing he could handle the situation alone, and starts fighting the hyenas. The teenage lion stays with the rabbit watching the fight from hiding. The fox manages to escape. The lion begins to lose the fight, and the rabbit calls the lionesses. The lionesses arrive, but the lion ends up dying. Years pass and the teenage lion grows up. A new threat emerges from white lions and hyenas without everyone knowing.

How we built it

AI tools + manual editing:

  • Story and concept: simple and direct visual script created with ChatGPT.
  • Video generation: Flow, Veo 3.1, Whisky/Nanobanana, Sora2, Kling, FAL, and Hailuo AI.
  • Audio: sound design and music using ElevenLabs.
  • Editing and finishing: Reaper for audio editing and CapCut for cuts, rhythm, color, and assembly.

Challenges we ran into

  • Maintaining visual consistency between tools.
  • Controlling camera movement and action during fight scenes.
  • Ensuring narrative clarity without any dialogue.
  • Handling sensitivity and balance in violent content.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • A complete short film made entirely by one person.
  • Coherent aesthetics even using different AI models.
  • Functional and understandable storytelling without dialogue.
  • A simple, accessible, and reproducible production pipeline.

What we learned

  • Even though video generation creates sound, it’s still necessary to improve sound effects using ElevenLabs.
  • Repetition, patience, and iteration are essential.

What's next for AI Action Short

  • Extended version or sequel within the same universe.
  • Tests with more advanced motion direction.
  • Possible expansion into a miniseries or interactive experience.
