WON BEST GENERAL APP - BostonHacks 2022

Inspiration💡

Have you ever run ads before? Probably not. It costs $200 on average to create a professional marketing poster. That's where Adi comes in. With just 20 cents a piece, we instantly generate a poster for you. So anyone can promote their own ventures!

What it does 🍽️

Our app generates ads in seconds, all on your phone. All you need to do is just answer a few questions. Our AI does the copywriting AND the design work for you. You can even choose from various styles like 'photo', '3D Render', 'Cartoon', etc. Adi is the future of digital advertisement.

How we built it 🛠️

Our app consists of three components: a React Native Front-End (one developer), a Django Back-End (two developers), and a Python interface for OpenAI's GPT-3 and DALL-E API (one developer). We set up a Git repository that allowed us to work independently before merging our code base at the end.

Challenges we ran into 🔥

Our hardest task was maximizing both aesthetics and flexibility. Fine-tuning the text generation required trial and error. We settled on a two-step approach. First, we sample pixels from the image to predict the best text color to use. Second, we perform calculations to determine an ideal-font size and placement that follows UX standards.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 😊

We're most proud of completing a nearly production-level application in 24 hours. We are excited to use our work from this weekend as the launch pad for future development.

What we learned 📚

This is our team's first project made with React Native, Django, and AI. Learning how to make these three technologies cooperate in a full-stack application was a challenging but fruitful learning process. Our team also had to carefully consider data modeling and effectively designing around OpenAI's APIs.

What's next for Adi 🏆

We plan to bring Adi to iOS App Store and Google Play Store within the next few weeks. After conducting additional market research, we may pivot to other applications. For instance, we can repurpose our codebase to generate holiday cards to send to family and friends.
