Inspiration :
"Across the Light" was born from the desire to blend cinematic storytelling with the emotional depth of music and the visual power of AI. The idea was to explore a love story beyond time and space — a poetic experience told through images, without dialogue. Inspired by pastel sci-fi, surreal architecture, and atmospheric music, the project invites the viewer into a dreamlike world where emotion becomes light.
What it does :
The short film visually narrates the silent connection between a man and a woman, each lost in parallel dreamworlds — a pastel forest and a futuristic sea. Through shifting light, surreal landscapes and visual poetry, the clip tells a story of longing, loss, and invisible connection. The result is an immersive, cinematic experience combining AI-generated visuals and original music.
How we built it :
The entire video was created using generative AI tools: Midjourney V7 for detailed, frame-by-frame image generation Kling AI for smooth, dreamlike animation Suno AI for composing the original soundtrack and Elevenlabs for the labsync, CapCut and DaVinci Resolve for final editing and post-production Each shot was planned like a real film: with continuity in character design, lighting, colors, and camera movement. Prompt engineering played a central role to ensure visual cohesion across all scenes.
Challenges we ran into :
Maintaining character consistency across dozens of generated scenes Matching the emotion of the music with visual pacing and transitions Avoiding the "AI look" — striving instead for a cinematic, photorealistic aesthetic Prompt refinement was extremely time-consuming, as even small details could break continuity Managing limited control over camera motion and precise transitions in current AI tools
Accomplishments that we're proud of :
Creating a visually cohesive and emotionally rich film entirely with AI tools Achieving a unique art direction blending pastel futurism, romantic melancholy, and sci-fi minimalism Building a workflow that allows full cinematic storytelling with no traditional camera, crew or actors Receiving feedback from viewers who were moved emotionally, even without understanding the language
What we learned :
Prompt design is everything. To create consistent visuals and strong storytelling, visual prompt literacy is essential. Emotion doesn’t need dialogue — with the right atmosphere, silence can speak volumes. AI can be a powerful ally for visual poets, if guided carefully. Planning every shot like a real film (storyboard, atmosphere, lighting logic) is key, even when working with generative tools. Time management and creative iteration are crucial when working across multiple tools and formats.
What's next for Across the Light
We plan to : Release the clip on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram with tailored storytelling for each platform Submit the project to AI-focused film festivals and digital art exhibitions Develop a making-of / behind-the-scenes showing the full AI workflow Expand the universe into a short narrative series or an interactive immersive experience Share our methodology through an online masterclass or workshop on AI storytelling.
