Inspiration

Keeping diseases on bay has always been a challenge. One cannot always reach a doctor or any clinic especially when you have to stay isolated to avoid circumstances. We took inspiration from this situation and started building *Chikitsak - your health partner * to give this problem a solution.

What it does

Our application displays disease when a user enters symptoms as input. The confidence score for the disease predicted is also displayed. We have given a specific section where you can view a brief description about that disease, view precautions that need to be taken. You can also consult the doctor with the chat feature. Register feature allows user to create a profile, where he/she can view the consultation history if logged in.

How we built it

To build an application that has not yet been developed needs to built efficiently. We started with searching for datasets keeping time span in mind. We came through Kaggle for the dataset. To implement any algorithm, first we needed to know enough about that. For achieving maximum accuracy we chose Naive Bayes algorithm, and Multinomial Naive Bayes Classifier. Being familiar with Django we chose html, css, javascript and bootstrap for appearance.

Challenges we ran into

The challenge began with selecting the problem statement, then to implement the ideas that we have thought of. Although Kaggle has a varsity of datasets but to select one that give maximum helpful results was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For one of our teammates it was first time participating in the hackathon. All of the members put their maximum efforts to build this application and we are proud of the work everyone has done.

What we learned

We learnt about different techniques to implement machine learning algorithms and their uses. The fun part was we came to know about several new diseases.

This is not the end, to stay ahead and different new features and updates must be introduced. We plan on implementing video call feature so that users can have one to one interaction with the doctors and specialists.
