Inspiration
Public interest lawyers with overburdened case load/client contacts diminish ability to do substantive work on case.
What it does
Promotes meaningful client contact and updates through electronic means rather than by telephonic or face-to-face contacts with clients.
How we built it
We built the backend on Microsoft Web API creating a RESTful service, then built a front-end on Microsoft's Universal App platform.
Challenges we ran into
We have never used Twilio before and had to learn how to use it's API in a short amount of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app sends text messages to clients with case updates and attorney progress allowing more complete communication between client and attorney. The text message features allows clients with low-end phones to receive updates even if they don't have internet access.
What we learned
We learned how to use the Twilio API to send text messages to clients. Sleep deprivation does not inhibit creativity.
What's next for Same-Page Notification System
- Add ability to email clients from the application.
- Direct clients to nearest internet connection(internet café, public library, etc.)
- Allow integration with other systems (Clio, Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Allow links with CourtConnect.
- Allow clients to view documents.
