Inspiration
A few weeks ago we started playing with Google Cardboard. Since Virtual Reality has already been implemented plenty of times, we decided to play with Augmented Reality... but then we came with simpler and more enjoyable idea. We were inspired by... Out-Of-Body-Experience, and Outside-The-Box thinking ;) And by the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOg7mj1_-sk . It's awesome.
What it does
Basically, it's an experiment for two players. Thanks to two VR goggles and smarphones with high resolution cameras and displays, you can see the world through other person's eyes... and vice versa. You can feel like you're in a cinema and the movie... is your life.
How I built it
Fast.
Challenges I ran into
Choosing the best streaming protocol. Optimizing frame rate, quality and other attributes to gain the lowest possible latency. We hate lags.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The experiment is actually pretty fun for the people who have experienced it! It allows you to see the world from the different perspective and suddenly tasks like high-fiving or grabbing a fudge become a world class challenge. we're especially proud of ourselves that we've conquered the mighty stairs to the 2nd floor using Perspektiva. :D
What I learned
Android is not that hard... if you look at it from another Perspektiva :D
What's next for Perspektiva
Games for team building, developing motor skills, solving logical puzzles... Possibilities are endless and the world is our oyster.
